Riverside locals will want to get ready, because soon it will be time to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The Asian Pacific Cultural Association is all set to host its annual Lunar Fest, and 2015 marks the Year of the Sheep. This event will be free as always, and will celebrate Southern California’s Asian Cultural Heritage. Attendees are encouraged to wear Asian-themed attire.
The Spectacular Parade of Nations will kick off as usual, and the opening ceremonies will welcome the crowd to a daylong immersion into the beauty of the Ancient Orient. Four stages will display Asian culture presented by both professional and community groups. Asian dance performances and traditional music, including Taiko drumming, will be part of the festivities and medical professionals will again present the Health Expo.
The Tea Pavilion will tantalize visitors with samples of teas of the Far East, and authentic Asian food will also be available. Children can visit the Children’s Village and enjoy free arts and crafts activities, with anime cosplayers also invited. The event will culminate in a traditional display of fireworks. Attendees should be sure to bring cameras for capturing colorful images for later poster printing.
The celebration will be held tomorrow, January 31, from 10:00 am till 7:00 pm, at the corner of Lemon Street and Mission Inn Avenue in Downtown Riverside (in front of the library).
