The Pleasant Hill Rotary Club is once again getting ready to hold Star Quest, with this year's theme being ‘On the Town’.
The upcoming show will feature 49 participants, most of whom are returning performers. For 16 youths, this will be their first year taking part in Star Quest. Participants range in ages from high school to kindergarten.
Lori Tassano, Star Quest director, has built and choreographed around toasting the ‘Big City’ with numbers such as ‘New York, New York’ by Frank Sinatra and ‘Empire State of Mind’ by Usher.
One 13-year-old performer, Trevor Gomez of Pleasant Hill, began participating at the age of 7. This year, he will be singing a solo from ‘All Shook Up’, while also assisting with master of ceremony duties.
Star Quest was founded by Jim Nunes, the former Pleasant Hill Police Chief. Following his retirement in 1996, Nunes has been searching for an activity for the local youth. He came up with the idea to fashion an event similar to ‘Star Search’, hosted by Ed McMahon.
Events such as this one can benefit from the engagement of a banner printing service to promote the event, as well as to help attendees find the location. Flyers announcing the event are also helpful in ensuring a good attendance.
The Star Quest's 2014 youth talent show will take place at Diablo Valley College on April 26 at 7:00 pm and April 27 at 2:00 pm.
