What's Happening in Pleasant Hill, CA…

Chance to learn bird facts during Pleasant Hill presentations

Pleasant Hill locals can discover exciting facts about native birds in September during two virtual lectures offered by the Contra Costa County Library.

People interested in the birds of California can attend two informational courses led by Bob Lewis. The first class will teach guests how the changing seasons impact the kinds of birds found in the Bay Area. The discussion will also go over how residents can enrich the habitats for local bird species. The second lesson teaches people how to identify raptors by covering their taxonomy and sharing interesting pictures of native avian hunters.

Bob Lewis has been teaching bird-related courses in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than 25 years. He is trained as a chemist and has previously served on the Golden Gate Audubon’s Adult Education Committee. Lewis has even earned the GGAS’ Paul Covel Award for Education and the American Birding Association’s Chandler Robbins Award for Education and Conservation. Instructors can use print shops to promote their courses to others.

The first discussion will take place on Tuesday, September 14, and the second lecture will occur on Tuesday, September 28. Both lessons will last from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm and will be broadcasted via Zoom. Each class is intended for an adult audience. Those who wish to learn about birds must register in advance to receive an invite to the presentations.
