The design chosen for the Transit Parking Structure mural was that of Jonny Pucci and it portrays the community’s historic roots and coastal charm. This mural and the ones that will come after it will be funded by the Oceanside Arts Commission, MainStreet Oceanside, and the Oceanside California Cultural District. They are part of the MainStreet Oceanside’s program, Art that Excites.
Pucci – who has murals in North Park, South Park, and Little Italy – is a multi-disciplinary artist based in San Diego; this will be his first mural in North Country. With a reputation for vibrantly colored murals, Pucci brings more than a decade’s experience as an illustrator, painter, muralist, installation artists, and designer to the project.
The CEO of MainStreet Oceanside explained:
“Jonny’s design reflects both the cultural heritage and natural beauty of our city, and this mural will serve as a welcoming landmark for residents and visitors arriving by public transit and car.”
Print shops are often asked to make Postcards featuring an area’s murals.
Designed to make use of the building’s multi-shape façade, the Oceanside parking structure’s mural will be split into three clear-cut parts harmonizing together.
The project is expected to be finished by October 31.
