The luxury and travel magazine sorted through the votes of over 750,000 readers to determine the best hospitality destinations and experiences throughout the world. For 2025 best in Southern California was the Mission Pacific Beach Resort which opened in 2021. The resort offers a rooftop pool and bar, 161 rooms with ocean views, Chef Roberto Alcocer’s restaurant Valle and acquired from the Oceanside Museum of Art a variety of curated artwork. Hyatt's managing director of the area said:
“To be recognized as the No. 1 hotel in Southern California by Condé Nast Traveler is an extraordinary honor, as it reflects the genuine experiences of our guests. We’re deeply grateful for this recognition by readers of one of travel’s most respected publications.”
The sister property of Mission Pacific Beach is The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa which is immediately next door to it. The 226-room Seabird with its ocean-facing spa, and event space totally almost 20,000 square feet came in at No. 14.
This year’s Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards is the second feather in Mission Pacific’s cap. It was name Travel + Leisure’s Top Resort Hotel in the Continental U.S. in 2024.
