Surf exhibit opens across two Oceanside museums

A partnership between the California Surf Museum (CSM) and the Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) will divide between them an exhibition that explores California’s coastal culture through surfing art.

The exhibition merges CSM’s deep-rooted cultural knowledge with OMA’s emphasis on contemporary art fashioning a comprehensive exploration of the Sunshine State’s coastal character. The exhibit includes the works of 30 regional artists with exhibitions that includes painting, textiles, murals and sculptures.

Banner printing services are often called upon to help promote museum exhibits.

The creation of the exhibit was to celebrate the surfing way of life rather than just a sport and to showcase the surfing community and how the ocean itself can be influential as to identity and belief. Artists personally connected to surfing culture were chosen by curators and included surf industry professionals and surfers.

The exhibit at OSM opened August 30 with general admission at $15 with tickets available at the door. CSM opens it exhibit on September 13 with tickets selling at $7 with discounts available for seniors, youth, students and military personnel.

The CSM’s current exhibits “Stars, Cars & Guitars” and “Ghost Wave” will be taken down while the museum is closed September 2-5 in preparation for the installation of “Surf Art: Exploring California’s Coastal Culture”.

The exhibition at both locations runs through February 1, 2026.
