While the majority of exhibits begin in September, “Transformative Currents” subtitled: Art and Action in the Pacific Ocean has already opened in part at the Oceanside Museum of Art. The full exhibit will open in early September and is funded by the PST Art: Art & Science Collide, a $20-million Getty initiative.
The initiative explores connections, past and present, between the disciplines using public programs, exhibitions and more, covering topics that include environmental justice, climate change, alternative medicine and the future of artificial intelligence.
Museums have multiple uses for printed materials including but not limited to banner printing for use inside and outside.
Twenty-one international collaborative teams and contemporary artists, using a diverse assortment of media including sculpture, video, photography and drawings seek to examine the ongoing effects and historical causes of damage inflicted on the Pacific Ocean. The purpose of which is to explore how art can effectively create a positive ecological change. The lead curator, Cassandra Coblentz said:
“We cannot separate the issues facing the Pacific; they are interrelated and affect us all. This exhibition is a call to recognize our shared responsibility and the dynamic interconnectedness of our actions.”
Oceanside’s “Transformative Currents” exhibit will open in full on September 7, 2024, and run through January 19, 2025.
