Before the end of the year, Pure Water Oceanside is expected to begin providing 30% of the city’s water.
San Diego County’s plans to grow its sustainable water supply is coming to fruition with three plants designed to create potable water from wastewater in the works. Of the three sites, Pure Water Oceanside will be the first to open, with operations anticipated to begin in mid-December, and it is hoped they will go a long way in helping the city reach its goal of creating half of its water by 2030.
Water Utilities Director Cari Dale explained that the seven years it took to bring Pure Water Oceanside to completion was fast in terms of water infrastructure.
Sometimes a thorough explanation, complete with pictures, is necessary to get the public onboard with a public works project, which is when the services of a brochure printing service can be invaluable.
In an explanation of the water cleaning process, Dale said the local treatment facility would remove particles from the wastewater. The water then receives ultraviolet (UV) light treatment before being pumped into the groundwater aquifer for a three-month stay that adds an environmental buffer. Once it is extracted it is treated one last time and then recirculated into the water supply.
This process is already in place in Orange County and water processed in this way is being used at Disneyland.
