The Brook’s Theatre, located in Oceanside, has announced that it will be hosting “Nerd Comedy” on New Year’s Eve.
The event bills itself as a different type of comedy event, being perfect for those who are looking to laugh on New Year’s Eve, but without alcohol.
Nerd Comedy is hosted by Tim Lee, a scientist with a Ph.D., who says he realized where his “true talents lie,” and left academia to pursue a successful career in comedy. The event description notes that Dr. Lee was often bullied in high school due to his perceived “nerdy” personality, but he ended up using this attribute to influence his comedy.
The event itself features Lee’s comedy routine, but then concludes with a game where audience members will be challenged to answer difficult academic questions.
Individuals may have previously seen Dr. Lee on “Weird Earth,” hosted by the Weather Channel. Anyone interested in seeing what Dr. Lee’s performances look like can find them on his YouTube channel.
