Wellness event in Long Beach
The last year has proven to be stressful for everyone, but an event in Long Beach may help people to feel better.
The second Renew You Sound Bath and Meditation is open to everyone and is designed to use sound and meditation to help people improve their health. A sound bath, as the name implies, uses sound to assist relaxation and help self-healing.
The concept of using sound as a healing measure may seem a bit “new age,” but it goes back thousands of years and is found in cultures worldwide. The actual practice varies by culture and region and can be as simple as a chant or as complex as a guided meditation with a practitioner. During a session, attendees are “bathed” by sound waves. The sound can be produced in many ways including rattles, chimes, drums, gongs, even chanting.
The upcoming event has been organized by Jesse Devine, who will be using crystal singing bowls to provide the sound. In addition, Devine has timed the event to take place, in part, during the sunset, which will combine with the singing bowls to create a sound-glow bath.
The event will be held beside the water of the Colorado Lagoon at the Alamitos Heights Park, and will begin with light stretching/yoga, then moving into the self-care session using both sound and the sunset. Events like this provide an opportunity for attendees to exchange business cards.
The session is scheduled for June 5, from 6.30 pm until 8.00 pm.
