A free concert is planned to start the holiday season in Long Beach.
Justin Rudd, a community activist and the founder of the nonprofit Community Action Team (CAT), is inviting everyone to attend a ‘Joy to the World’ Christmas concert, featuring percussion and brass. The concert is suitable for people of all ages, and groups of all sizes are welcome to attend. The event is free, though tickets are required. Banner printing can be used to create decorations for events like this.
The musicians who will be playing are from the Southern California Brass Consortium. The group was founded in 2013, in order to put together a professional brass ensemble to play music that is challenging, and yet accessible. Brass and percussion together are an exciting combination, and the Consortium, which has more than 26 professional musicians as members, plays many different styles and various compositions, occasionally including works featuring organ, piano, and harp.
The concert will take place at Bay Short Church in the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Long Beach. The concert begins at 7:00 pm on December 15. The doors will open approximately 6:30 pm, and ticket holders should plan to be seated by 6:50 pm at the latest. At that time, people without tickets will be admitted to find any remaining open seats. Although the concert is free, organizers are asking for donations of nonperishable food for a local food bank, or treats and toys for shelter cats and dogs.
