Race scheduled in Long Beach

A major athletic event is coming up in Long Beach.

The 12th Annual Bayshore Triathlon will challenge athletes of all skill levels and one of the races benefits the Challenged Athletes Foundation. There are three races scheduled: the triathlon, the sprint triathlon, and the Bayshore 4 Run Race. Banner printing can be used to create signage for outdoor events like this.

The schedule begins the day before the races with packet pick-up, which will take place at the Noble Bird Restaurant, from 3.00 pm until 6.00 pm. They can also be picked up on race day at 5.30 am at the site of the race. The Bayshore 70.4 Triathlon starts at 7.00 am; the Sprint Triathlon, which benefits CAF, starts at 8.00 am; and the Bayshore 4 Run Race starts at 9.00 am.

There are three events within the triathlon. The first is a 1.3-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride. The event finishes up with a 13.1-mile run. Organizers are referring to the races as a grass roots event and note that there are several stoplights on the course for the bike race, and they are open to the public. Riders should watch for traffic.

Aid stations will be found every 1.5 miles on the Run, and at the turn around point on the bike ride. Gummy bears, pretzels, bananas, ClifBars, electrolyte drinks, and water will be at all stations.

The races are set for May 15, with transition opening at 5.30 am.
