What's Happening in Long Beach, CA…

Music on the menu at upcoming brunch

Diners at Long Beach's Hotel Maya will have a treat soon, as they enjoy music with their meal.

Students from the Mariachi Conservatory, both high school and elementary level, will perform traditional mariachi music at Fuego, the seaside restaurant that forms part of the hotel. Fuego overlooks the skyline of Long Beach, the Queen Mary, and the Pacific Ocean. Banner printing can provide colorful decorations for special events such as this.

The Mariachi Conservatory seeks to give students a chance to learn mariachi music, and at the same time, develop an academic program with a concentration on this genre. The Mariachi Conservatory ultimate wants to advocate for the inclusion of mariachi as part of a musical education, in all grade levels from kindergarten through twelfth grade, as well as in colleges and universities.

Sunday Brunch at Fuego begins with either a mimosa or a glass of champagne, both complimentary. The entrees available include sea bass with a plantain crust, ropa vieja, pork carnitas braised with citrus, achiote mojo salmon, chilaquiles, steak tampiqueno, pandulce French toast, or Fuego eggs Benedict. Also on the menu are salads suggested by the chef, a taco station, various types of ceviche, and desserts.

The Mariachi Conservatory will play at Fuego at 11:00 am on July 21. The hotel is on Queensway Drive, and the event is one of a series of monthly mariachi brunches at the venue.
