Mycology is the study of mushrooms and other fungi, and a Long Beach festival will soon be putting these organisms front and center.
Neither plant nor animal, fungi are a separate kingdom of organisms used by humans in a variety of ways. The festival will offer a sneak peek into many of these, and it will also offer lots of fun.
Those who attend the festivities will be able to learn more about the world of fungi and how they can be used for food, and will be invited to enjoy a variety of dishes that feature mushrooms. There will also be presentations by keynote speakers as well as smaller workshops, along with a makers’ market. Guests will get the chance to discover how fungi can be valuable tools for bioremediation, and can also be used to produce sustainable building materials.
The planners of the festival have put a sponsorship and vendor registration program in place. Small businesses that set up shop in a larger event can attract attention by utilizing decor prepared by a poster printing company.
The Long Beach Mushroom Festival will be bringing out everyone's inner mycologist on Saturday, June 29. It will be on offer at 408 East 1st Street. General admission will be free, and there is also a VIP option for anyone who would like a more immersive experience.
