What's Happening in Long Beach, CA…

Long Beach activity to support four-legged first responders

Some police officers are furry and have four legs, and a Long Beach car show is set to offer a salute to these first responders.

The Sultans Car Club has made arrangements to host a benefit car show, and the charity of choice for the day will be the Long Beach K-9 Officers Association. The monies raised will be used to purchase and care for police dogs, and it is restricted to vehicles manufactured prior to 1973.

The function, which will be held rain or shine, is scheduled to be held at the Long Beach Police Officers Association Park. It will offer free parking and admission for spectators. Along with the vehicles on display, the crowd can watch a K-9 demonstration, enjoy entertainment, try their luck in a prize draw, and purchase a bite to eat.

Anyone who would like to show off their pride and joy in this event is welcome to submit a registration form, and those who do ahead of time will receive a T-shirt printed with a snappy graphic design prepared for the occasion. The fee to enter a car is $40, and the deadline to sign up in advance is April 30.

This chance to enjoy getting together as a community while supporting its four-legged first responders is scheduled for May 13. Set-up will kick off at 7:00 am, and the gates will open to the public at 9:00 am.
