Annual sand sculpture festival returns to Long Beach
The 84th annual Long Beach Sand Sculpture Arts and Music Festival is taking place this month over two days.
Part of the ‘Summer Beach Party Series’ presented by the Port of Long Beach and Alfredo’s Beach Club, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House.
It is a semi-pro competition that offers cash prizes of up to $500. Sculptors will likely come from all over the state to participate. In addition, there will also be an amateur contest for cash prizes; participants must bring their own equipment.
In addition to sand sculpting, there will be DJs and live music from bands such as the Blanket Band, The Cold Shoulders, and Bearwulf. The children’s zone will have giant slides, a climbing wall, and hamster balls. For the adults, there is set to be a craft beer and wine garden. Local vendors will also be on hand to provide a variety of merchandise, including arts and crafts for sale. Food will also be available for purchase.
It is likely that some vendors who are participating in the Long Beach show will invest in signs or banners to bring more attention to their booths.
The Long Beach Sand Sculpture Art and Music Festival will be held at Granada Beach from August 13 to 14. Admission is free of charge. To find out the latest information about the festival, visit the official website.
