Portola Park, a Lake Forest dog-friendly park, is now lit up for the fall.
These new lights form part of the strategic plan to improve and update the parks across the city.
Debra Rose, City Manager of Lake Forest, said that when Portola Park was designed in 2020, it was decided by the city council to wait to install the lights, to determine how often the public visited the park. Rose added that the public had, in fact, been highly active in using the park, so the members of the council decided it was time to install the lights.
When going to dog-friendly parks like this one, people often take photos of themselves with their canine companions. Cities can utilize flyer printing companies to include pictures like these, to help promote the use of such parks.
With the installation of the lights, the city will continue to fulfill the strategic plan and improve the quality of other parks in Lake Forest. Among the projects scheduled are updates to the design of Etnies Skatepark, renovating the field at Heroes Park, and upgrading Cavanaugh Park.
Efforts are also being put in place to improve Vintage Park, with the first step being to gather feedback from the community, and to discuss additional items that may be needed for the next phase of improvements.
Portola Park can be found on Summit View Drive, Lake Forest.
