Free tax preparation available to seniors in Lake Forest

Free income tax preparation services are being offered to seniors in Lake Forest and neighboring communities.

Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Lake Forest is offering free tax preparation services and filing for state and federal income taxes. The program is open to residents who qualify with an adjusted gross income of up to $69,000. Most returns can be filed electronically to facilitate the return of refunds to residents.

There are volunteers on hand to help residents understand the changes in the tax law for 2025, including tips, overtime pay, interest deductions on new car loans, and additional deductions for individuals over age 65.

Those wishing to take advantage of these services need to schedule an appointment. These services are available Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The church is on El Toro Road near the intersection of El Toro and Muirlands Roads.

OC Free Tax Prep sites across Orange County are also offering free tax preparation services. This program is available to those who are 50 years of age and older and there is not limit on income. Tax preparers certified by the IRS assist residents at no cost and ensure that all available credits are claimed to maximize refunds. Residents need to call to schedule this service.
