Lake Forest police begin bike patrol services

A dedicated Bike Patrol Team is being introduced by the Police Services of Lake Forest. This will bring deputies on two wheels to special events, shopping centers, trails, and parks throughout the city.

Specially equipped Class 3 police electric bikes (eBikes) will be used by the bike patrol deputies. This will facilitate their navigation of areas that are not accessible by patrol vehicles, such as community gathering areas, crowded spaces, and narrow paths. The bikes are ideal for event support and proactive police patrol as they provide agility, speed, and an extended range.

Every undergoes specialized training that emphasizes safety, precise maneuvering, and effective operation of eBikes in crowded or challenging settings. Although many officers enjoy recreational cycling in their personal time, this program equips them specifically for professional, on-duty patrol duties.

Among the benefits of bike patrol are enhanced response times and community engagement as well as a more approachable and visible presence in the community. An efficient and cost effective complement to traditional patrol bike patrol deputy vehicles is another benefit.

Residents of Lake Forest are encouraged to stop and greet the bike patrol deputies as they see them in their daily routines.

Flyer printing can be used to provide more details on such new patrols, their benefits for safety and accessibility, and tips for residents to engage with deputies on the trails, in parks, or at local events.
