Veronica Mora, a resident of Lake Forest, was recently celebrated in the 2017 Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure survivor tribute ceremony.
Mora attributed the Komen Orange County for her ability to survive breast cancer at the age of 26, when she had no insurance and was a student.
More than 800 breast cancer survivors gathered in front of the Pacific Life Building for the Survivor Tribute ceremony after the race. There are inspiring speeches from advocates and survivors at the ceremony and white doves are released to pay tribute to those lost their battle to the disease, as well as to recognize survivors.
Newport Beach’s Fashion Island was the host of the race that brought together over 15,000 breast cancer supporters and survivors from Orange County. Volunteers numbered more the 1,600 and helped in preparation for the event, at water stations and booths, on the course, and clean-up. The race asked participants to build more awareness and help to raise funds for the breast cancer movement.
The Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure is the major breast cancer fundraiser in California and is expected to raise over $2m for the organization.
Poster printing companies could be used by organizations such as this one to create posters about such fundraising efforts and the causes to which the money will be donated.
