Lake Forest to open brick program for veterans

The Veterans Park Brick Program of the city of Lake Forest is now accepting applications.

This program provides an opportunity for residents to purchase engraved and personalized bricks to honor members of the service, both past and present. The bricks will be installed at Veterans Park on Ridge Route Drive, around the tree at the flag monument in the park. Each brick will cost $100, which includes engraving, installation, and a certificate of commemoration that is signed by the City Council.

Up to three lines of text can be engraved on each brick, with no more than 20 characters per line, including punctuation and spaces. This text can include the name, rank, and other important information about the service member. An emblem of the branch in which the member served can also be included. The size of each brick is eight inches by four inches. Those who are interested in purchasing a brick can complete the required application and return that and the payment to City Hall.

Brochure printing can be used to provide more details about such programs and the application process.

Veterans Park is a small landscaped and well-maintained park in Lake Forest featuring a lake with fountains at its center. Geese, ducks, and turtles are often seen around the lake. It also offers many walking paths and picnic tables.

The bricks will be installed before Veterans Day this year, which falls on 11 November.
