Plenty in the box for awareness event

Breast Cancer Solutions, a local nonprofit organization, was the beneficiary of a fundraiser on October 9, 2014 held at The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest.

This was the fifth year in a row that a fundraiser was held at the store for Breast Cancer Solutions, a charity founded by Heather Gilbert, a Lake Forest resident. According to one of the store’s owners, Jack Levenson, about 80 people turned out for this year’s event, which raised a record $4,250.

Breast Cancer Solutions was founded in 1998 and, according to its, website:

“…is a non-profit organization that provides breast cancer patients with direct assistance, community referrals and compassionate support.”

Often nonprofits, such as Breast Cancer Solutions, benefit from the services of brochure printers in helping them reach their intended beneficiaries.

The Jewelry Box discounted its stock and a portion of sales made during the fundraiser were donated to the charity. This year, a special feature was the sale of glasses of champagne. About 80 glasses were purchased, each containing a cubic zirconia stone and a number. A drawing was held, and the lucky champagne glass owner, who was Lynn Colin of Laguna Woods, received a one-carat diamond.

Those wishing to show their support for the cause can purchase Pink Ribbon watches up until the end of tomorrow, November 1, at The Jewelry Box. The proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Solutions.
