Ground has been broken on the Portola Senior Apartments in Lake Forest.
This project is being developed as a partnership between the city of Lake Forest, master developer Sun Ranch Capital Partners, and affordable housing developer Community HousingWorks.
These apartments are the first mixed-use project in the city and part of the Portola Center Area Plan of the city. The project sits on a 1.94-acre site and will provide affordable long-term housing and service programs to low-income residents of Lake Forest, connecting them with the surrounding community. Shops offering printing services can help to spread the word in the community about such developments.
It will have one building of 58 units and be made available to those seniors who earn 50% of the Area Median Income and are 62 years of age and older. It will be offered to both individuals and couples will and have apartments with one bedroom, complete with aging-friendly features. An adjacent parking lot will have spaces for 58 vehicles.
Additional amenities include a community room with computer learning centers, an outdoor plaza, a shared laundry, and accessible common spaces. Residents will be provided access to free high-speed internet in each unit, free passes for public transportation, and 84 hours of skill-building, health and wellness guidance, or adult education classes per year.
The apartments are expected to be completed in Fall 2023.
