New low-price grocery store opens in Lake Forest

Aldi, a grocery chain, is now open on El Toro Road in Lake Forest.

The German retailer offers a shopping experience with no frills and strives to make grocery shopping budget friendly and simple with private-label, high-quality products at affordable prices. The store in Lake Forest has a layout that has been streamlined to make shopping easy and quick, and will offer 1,600 items that have been specially selected, compared to the usual approximately 20,000 items at traditional supermarkets.

Aldi also plans to donate $1,000 to a local Feeding America affiliate to help combat food insecurity as part of its commitment to the local community. It is also planning to help reduce food waste by donating unsellable but edible products to organizations in need through the network of Feeding America.

A special promotion will be offered at the store for Thanksgiving. A complete meal for the holiday for 10 people can be purchased for $47. This will include a butterball turkey, side dishes, and dessert. Such promotions can be made known throughout a community with various printing services.

The opening of this store in Lake Forest is part of Aldi’s expansion across the United States. It plans to open 800 stores over the next five years. The company claims its focus on efficiency and simplicity enables it to help customers save up to 40% on groceries as compared to traditional supermarkets.
