New director of management services appointed in Lake Forest

Brett Channing has recently been appointed as the new Director of Management Services for the City of Lake Forest. Channing will oversee public information, information technology, and human resource functions of the city, and will also be a member of the Executive Management Team.

The Manager of Lake Forest, Debra Rose, commented that Channing has over 10 years of municipal experience and has been a leader in many professional organizations, such as the International City Manager’s Association. The city will benefit from his unique experience and knowledge.

Channing’s work experience includes serving in the cities of Yorba Linda and Brea in various capacities that included public information, labor relations, budget development, and legislative affairs issues. Most recently, he was Assistant to the City Manager and Deputy Director of Administrative Services for the City of El Cajon. He led a team of 14 people whose function were in the areas of public information, information technology, and human resources.

His accomplishments at El Cajon included launching a new website for the city, instituting new initiatives in technology, and leading the design and construction of a new animal shelter measuring 11,000 square feet in area.
