The Orange County Board of Supervisors has announced an outdoor dining grant of $1,000 to be made available to restaurants in Lake Forest.
This Dining Grant Program will enable restaurants to implement or expand their capacity for outdoor dining during the winter months.
Supervisor Don Wagner, from the Third District, and Andrew Do, Vice Chairman, authored this program, which will provide a total of $1m to restaurants. Do said that the current circumstances have compelled restaurants to be creative so they can remain open. He added that being able to dine outdoors has become essential so that restaurants can continue to operate and keep their customers safe as the state increase its restrictions on dining at restaurants. Such eateries can turn to flyer printing to inform customers of innovations and offerings during the holiday and winter season.
Funded with money from the federal CARES Act, the money from the Restaurant Outdoor Dining Grant program will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Applications for such funds will soon be available on the county website. Outdoor lighting, such as strings of lights; outside patio heaters and warmers; and tents and canopies are some of the items that will be covered by the grant.
Restaurants who receive such funding need to make their purchases of equipment and other related items by Wednesday, December 23.
