College scholarships will be offered to seniors in high school in Lake Forest who plan to pursue a career in a field related to science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM).
Totaling $35,000, the funds will be offered by Cox Charities, and scholarships will be somewhere between $2,500 and $5,000 per student. Those who qualify for these funds must be graduating from high school this spring and live in the Southern California service area of Cox. Printing services can be used to promote such scholarships and funding throughout the community.
The scholarships are made possible through payroll donations from employees of Cox. The company then matches those donations through Cox Charities. Students in the company’s service area are supported by this charitable arm through the awarding of scholarships to students, and through grants to non-profit companies. The foundation and its giving program are managed by a volunteer advisory board of Cox employees.
Vice president of government and public affairs for Cox Communications in California, Chanelle Hawken, said that with challenging financial issues and new learning environments, students are working even harder these days to achieve their educational dreams. She added that the company was founded by a teacher and continues to support education and students in the local area and is looking forward to awarding these scholarships this year.
The deadline to apply for these scholarships is Friday, February 3
