Local college gives out over $500K in scholarships

The Irvine Valley College (IVC) Foundation, just a few miles from Lake Forest, has recently awarded a total of $558,750 in scholarships.

The foundation gave 617 scholarships to 356 students. Due to bookstore vouchers and emergency funds, the foundation was able to allocate an additional $81,837, as well as another $146,680 from outside scholarships. This funding demonstrates its overall commitment to supporting students and student success.

News of such awards and scholarships is often made known throughout a community with flyer printing.

Elissa Oransky, executive director of the foundation, said these direct awards to students were an all-time high and exceeded the total from last year by $67,000. She said that this underscores the commitment of the IVC Foundation to fostering student academic success.

President of IVC, Dr. John Hernandez, expressed his appreciation of the generosity of the donors to scholarships. He said that contributions of any amount are important to removing the financial barriers some students face, and contribute to the academic success of students. He added that this financial support not only makes an investment in education, but also enables students to believe in their dreams and encourages them to pursue a college education.

The foundation works every day to find the resources that will help students to find a caring community and receive a high-quality education.
