The city of Lake Forest is working on several improvements to intersections over the next three years.
These projects are designed to mitigate the impacts on traffic from developments that were previously approved by Lake Forest and Orange County. Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word about improvements to intersections with the help of flyer printing.
The Transportation Mitigation Program of Lake Forest, the Foothill Circulation-Phasing Plan of Orange County, and The Meadows development agreement are providing the funding for these improvements.
One of the projects will restripe the southbound lanes of Rancho Parkway so that a shared through-right-turn lane can be accommodated. Construction is currently underway and is expected to end in Spring 2024.
Another project is a partnership between the cities of Lake Forest and Irvine to add a shared through-right-turn lane on Jeronimo heading north, and adding two left-turn lanes in all directions where there are currently none of these. An aesthetically pleasing retaining wall will be added by the city of Lake Forest along Jeronimo next to the Lake Forest Keys property so that the shared through-right-turn lane can be widened. Construction on this project is expected to begin in 2026.
The City of Lake Forest is also widening El Toro Road at Santa Margarita Parkway and Portola Parkways to add dual right and left turn lanes. The completion of this project is anticipated for this fall.
