The city of Lake Forest is currently performing its annual summer renovations of the turf of all its sports fields.
The city says the renovations are needed to perform aeration, seeding, and fertilization of the fields as well as irrigation repairs and improvements and sod removal and replacement so that the fields can be ready for the upcoming seasons of soccer and baseball. While renovations are taking place, residents will not be allowed to play on the fields so the sod can be established, and the grass can grow. There will be fences around the fields and signs as well as local Print shops often assisting in spreading the word throughout the community about such renovations and the closures of the fields while work is being using Flyers and mailers.
Among the parks that will be affected by such closures are Baker Ranch Park, Foothill Ranch Community Park, Heroes Park, and Sports Park. A spokesperson for the city said that residents should check the closure dates before planning to use one of the fields.
A special Bermuda grass is used by the city for the sports fields as it is durable and resistant to disease and weeds yet thrives in sunny and hot climates. When it is properly maintained, it offers a smooth and consistent surface for athletic fields.
The work is expected to be completed by Sunday August 15.
