Lake Forest to offer paper shredding for residents

The shredding program of the city of Lake Forest is once again open to residents.

This service is being offered by the Lake Forest Police Services in an effort to combat identity theft. Residents can be notified of such special services with flyer printing services.

There are drop-off bins at the counter of the Police Services at the Lake Forest City Hall on Civic Center Drive. These bins are locked and the contents are then shredded by Saddleback Shredding Inc., which is bonded through the Western Surety Company.

To be able to drop off materials, one needs to bring proof of residency in Lake Forest. One storage box that is 24 inches deep, 15 inches wide, and 10 inches high can be brought to City Hall once a week. The storage box should have only paper documents. Junk mail will not be accepted as only those documents that list any type of personal information are eligible for shredding. This service is available for residents only and not for businesses.

The Police Services for the city are provided by a contract with the Sheriff’s Department of Orange County. The department protects citizens, prevents crime, and offers a variety of community policing programs and public safety information.

Hours for dropping of shredding are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
