Lake Forest to host holiday tree lighting celebration

Market Square in Lake Forest will be the location for the Tree Lighting Holiday Celebration this year.

Such special festivities can be promoted throughout a community with poster printing.

Many events are scheduled for the afternoon, with activities for little ones, live music, carolers, plenty of food and drink, and a visit from Santa Claus himself.

Among the many additions to this year’s festivities will be crafts, face painting, a balloon artist, and family-friendly games. There will be trackless train rides and inflatables, special guests and entertainment, and a beer and wine garden, along with a boutique that has many gifts on offer for last-minute purchases.

The celebration will start at 1:00pm at the Gorton Community Center with the movie, “Home Alone.” The area for kids’ activities will begin at 3:00pm, with cookies donated by the Lake Forest Bank and Trust, and coffee and doughnuts provided by the Oertel Group. Santa Claus will be visiting from 3:15pm to 6:00pm.

The Lake Forest High School Festival Brass Ensemble and the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra will be performing from 3:30pm to 4:15pm, with a concert of caroling by the Lake Forest High School Choristers scheduled for 4:40pm.

The Lake Forest Dance Academy dancers will perform at 5:00pm, with holiday music to follow from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

The celebration will take place on Saturday December 9, with the tree lighting to start at 6:00pm.
