Lake Forest to hold special womens film festival

LunaFest will be hosted by the Soroptimist International of Saddleback Valley at the Lake Forest Civis Center later this month.

This will be a film festival about and by women and women’s issues. This will be a program of seven short films told from many viewpoints that champion women and highlight their accomplishments, aspirations, strength, and resilience.

One of the films will be “Miss Chelove: From Java to the Streets of D.C.” in which Cita Sadell, a mural artist also known as Miss Chelove, talks about her life and cultural heritage and how she became passionate about graffiti in the 1960s. Another film is “More Than I Want to Remember” in which Mugeni at the age of 14 takes a solo journey around the world to find her lost loved ones and lift up the people of Mulenge. The film “Swimming Through” is the story of three women – Helen, Deidre, and Jennefer – whose friendship grew during the pandemic as they took a plunge together every day in Lake Michigan during a brutal Chicago winter.

Local printing services can often lend a hand to promote such special film festivals. They can supply Flyers, posters, and other materials to advertise them throughout the community.

LunaFest will be held on Sunday, March 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The price for a general admission ticket is $30.
