Lake Forest to hold celebrations for 4th of July

Several festivities are planned in Lake Forest to celebrate Independence Day.

The day begins with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club in front of the El Toro High School Gym. Breakfast begins at 7:00 am and runs until 10:00 am, with the cost per person of $6.

This will be followed by the 4th of July parade, which will begin promptly at 10:00 am. The parade starts in front of El Toro High School, at the corner of Ridge Route Drive and Toledo Way and ends before Ridge Route on Serrano Road.

Participants in the parade typically include bands, car clubs, equestrians, and general parade entrants. Awards are given for entries in the parade that include the Mayor’s Award, Best of Lake Forest Award, Best Spirit Award, and Most Patriotic Award.

The City and the Committee for the parade hold a contest each year for a new Logo Design for the celebrations. Criteria for the logo are that it is simple and not too detailed, with bold, clean lines. Font sizes should be larger as well. The quality of the artwork and the relation of the logo to the celebration and its theme are used for judging the logo. The winning logo will be used on various materials to promote the day’s festivities.
