Official letters of intent have been signed by nine student athletes from Santa Margarita Catholic High School to play their sport at several colleges around the United States this fall, during the National Letter of Intent Signing Day of the NCAA.
These letters of intent are a binding agreement between a college and a student-athlete whereby the student-athlete will attend the college for one academic year. Sean Zeitler, a representative from the school, said that this time of the year is an exciting one for these seniors, who are now able to sign scholarship papers for their sport of choice.
Among the nine students is Justin Carago, a resident of Lake Forest, who will attend the University of California Irvine where he will run track. Banner printing companies are often hired to inform the community of such achievements and honor to the community.
Carago has been a member of the football team for three years and the track and field team for all his high school years, focusing on such sprinting events as the 4 x 400 relay and the 4 x 100 relay. During his freshman year, he was freshman sprinter of the year and was freshman offensive player of the year for football. Carago is also an active volunteer at The Little Red Dog pet adoption center and the Second Harvest Food Bank.
