Lake Forest school awarded technology grant

The service area of Cox Communications in Orange County has been given $65,000 in “Innovation in Education” grants by Cox Charities.

These funds will be used for innovative programs for students in grades kindergarten through 12 in 23 schools. This grant program is given out once a year for technology-based curricula that improve the learning experience in the classroom for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics; cyber citizenship; skills-based learning; and digital literacy.

Anmarie MacNevin of Lake Forest Elementary School was one of the grant recipients for the program ‘Engineers in the Making!’. Poster printing could be used for such announcements to make the school and surrounding community aware of such prestigious awards.

Vice President of Public Affairs for Cox Communications California, Chanelle Hawken, said this program is part of Cox’s commitment to education and enables innovative technology to be brought into the classroom. New technology is introduced to students, so they are better prepared for the future.

Cox Communications is a telecom company that provides broadband applications and services. The philanthropic arm of the company is Cox Charities, which is funded by donations from employees and matched by the company.
