Lake Forest residents bring festivities to Camp Pendleton

Christmas meals were provided to 1st Law Enforcement Battalion Marines at Camp Pendleton just before the big day itself.

On December 23, Boy Scouts and Lake Forest USMC Support Committee volunteers came to Camp Pendleton bearing gifts of hams, pies ,and other holiday food items. Around 50 Marines and their immediate families, who were unable to share the holiday with extended family, formed a line outside the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion (LEB) building to receive the bounty.

Beginning in September 2013, the City of Lake Forest officially adopted the 1st LEB, and a non-profit support committee was formed the following February. To enrich the lives of Marines in the unit, as well as strengthen the relationship between the unit and the city, is the mission of the committee.

One way in which the relationship can be strengthened is with the incorporation of the community in events hosted by the unit, such as open houses, and demonstrations of the Marines in action. A poster printing service can facilitate getting the word out about these events.

The organization works to provide a positive impact on the service men and women all year long. In addition to the Christmas meal giveaway, volunteers from the committee also provided Thanksgiving meals and helped put together a Christmas party for the 1st LEB, which included eight truckloads of toys for their children.
