Lake Forest holds virtual recreation for residents

The Community Services Department of Lake Forest is hosting several virtual recreational activities to keep active, busy, and engaged. The department hopes that these resources available at one’s fingertips will promote health and well-being in the community.

Print shops can be used to create mailers and other printed materials to inform residents of such activities.

Among the activities which the Virtual Recreation Center is hosting is Family Creative Crafters. This activity is designed to highlight new crafting ideas and artwork which residents have created and include jewelry, ceramics, sidewalk chalk art, and paint and crayon artwork, among others. Photographs of such work can be sent to the Department with new crafts being posted each week.

Another artistic opportunity is Chalk Talk. People of all ages are welcome to take photographs of their sidewalk chalk art and send to the Department. Staff from the city will approve the artwork before being posted online at the Virtual Recreation Center.

The Community Services Department will also be highlighting national days each month with interesting facts and happenings. Coming up on Tuesday May 26 is Paper Airplane Day. This will be a contest to see how far people can fly their paper airplanes. Thursday May 28 is National Hamburger Day where residents will be able to share their ultimate homemade hamburger recipes.
