Holiday boat parade comes to Lake Forest area

The 144th Boat Parade will be coming to Newport Beach later this week. Residents of nearby Lake Forest will not want to miss this spectacular event.

The parade will include kayaks, boats, yachts, and canoes. There will be over 100 dazzling boats lighting up the night featuring synchronized light shows, pyrotechnics, displays that move, dancers, and singers. There will be close to 50 locations from which people can view the parade along its route of 14 miles around Newport Harbor.

Also at the parade will be a Holiday Market featuring 35 local artisans, live music and entertainment, photo opportunities, food vendors, and activities for children. More details about such activities are often outlined with flyer printing.

There is also a decorating contest called “Ring of Lights” for homes along the route of the parade where each home is extravagantly decorated for the season. Typically, viewers can see dancing Christmas trees, animated scenes on the roofs, and lights on every façade. This contest has become as well known as the parade itself, as visitors can walk from house to house, or rent or charter a boat to see these lights.

The parade begins at 6:30 pm and runs from Wednesday, December 14 through Sunday, December 18. There will be fireworks on closing night at 9:00 pm from Balboa Pier.
