Recently, Xpress Natural Gas LLC awarded Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. of Lake Forest an order for 15 of its virtual pipeline trailers, worth over $8m.
The order will be delivered in late 2016, and includes an option for a further 20 trailers and several system upgrades. These would be delivered in 2017.
Quantum Fuel Systems provides natural gas storage and delivery systems and the trailers are used to supply natural gas to customers in North America who would not otherwise have access to existing pipelines. The company’s trailer system offers higher storage and capacity at pressures above current marketplace offerings.
President and CEO of Quantum, Brian Olson, commented that this is a significant order, made even more so by the fact that it comes from XNG, which he regards as one of the top companies in the industry. As the demand for natural gas that cannot be met with traditional pipelines grows, there will be many additional opportunities for virtual pipeline distribution of compressed natural gas.
CEO of XNG, John Nahill, added that the virtual pipeline from Quantum will enable his company to improve its delivery of compressed natural gas to its customers.
