Earlier in the spring, developers broke ground on a new townhouse development in the City of Norwalk, just a few miles from Downey.
It is expected to be one the largest of such developments in the City in 20 years and will be marketed to homebuyers earning between $80,000 and $100,000 a year and who are buying their first home.
According to president of Brandywine Homes, Brett Whitehead, the development to be called Sunstone will cost about $15 million and will be a gated community of 31 units. It will have two- and three-bedroom stucco townhomes, two stories in height, between about 1,000 and 1,500 square feet in size.
Features of the homes will include concrete tile roofs, two-car garages, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and tankless water heaters. There will be an open space area with play equipment for children, barbecue grills, picnic tables, and a structure for shade. There will also be two garage parking spots and one guest spot per townhouse.
The starting price of the townhouses will be $400,000 and they are scheduled to go on the market this month. Expected completion date of the project is March 2016.
