In late September, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) will host the Navigating Media Literacy in the Digital Age workshop in Downey to train educators on how to teach digital media literacy.
The LACOE offers support and resources to students, families, educators, and individual community members relating to academic and professional development. The board provides credentialing programs, continuing education classes, and curriculum support to educators, as well as early childhood education and adult learning. The wider community benefits from the LACOE too, with countywide activities and enrichment programs being provided.
The half-day workshop is designed to train educators on how to improve students’ media literacy skills in the digital age. The seminar will explore best practices and the latest trends in media literacy instruction. How to develop a critical media lens will be explored, as well as how to combat misinformation. Other topics include the role and impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and how to navigate responsibly along digital pathways.
Educational seminars such as this will often include informative Brochures as teaching materials. Organizers can visit their local Print shops that specialize in brochure printing services to get help preparing these materials.
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, September 30 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. The LACOE is located at 9300 Imperial Highway. There is no cost to attend.
