Downey nonprofit to celebrate 15 years of service

In just a few weeks, the Downey Conservancy will celebrate its 15th anniversary of preserving the cultural and architectural heritage of Downey with a day filled with fun, food, music, and other entertainment.

The Downey Conservancy is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2010 to preserve and advocate for the conservation of significant historic sites and built elements of the town. The conservancy works to preserve the past by conducting historic resource surveys, promoting public awareness of designated sites, conducting public tours of cultural and historic sites, holding public forums and meetings, and organizing special events celebrating the organization’s mission.

The anniversary bash will highlight the milestones the conservancy has achieved and the impact it has had on the community. It will take place at Bob’s Big Boy Broiler, a nostalgic diner-type establishment that features classic Americana cuisine. There will be live music from Gramps with Amps, food with carhop service, and a vintage car display.

Organizers interested in getting the word out about special events like this may decide to call upon their local Print shops to prepare a supply of Flyers to hand out.

The Downey Conservancy’s 15th Anniversary event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 9 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Bob’s Big Boy Broiler can be found at 7447 Firestone Boulevard.
