Downey cat uses one of its nine lives

Luck was with a small white cat recently, when he got stuck in a wall in Downey. He was trapped near the Department of Animal Care and Control, according to an article on Patch.com.

Department employees were on their way to lunch when they found the trapped cat, who has since been identified as a domestic short-haired male of two years of age. He had got stuck inside a cinder block wall near the animal facility, which is on Garfield Avenue.

When they heard the cat, the workers investigated and found the little lifeline. He was unsurprisingly terrified, but they were able to sedate him and get him out of the wall. They named him Wally, but do not know how or why Wally got into his predicament and were thankful that they were in the right spot in time to help.

Don Belton, who is the department’s public information officer, said it is probable the cat was looking for a place to hide. Wally does not have a microchip, so he was taken to the Downey Animal Care Center to recover. Officials describe him as a “little stressed,” but doing well.

Once he is completely recovered, emotionally and physically, from his adventure, Wally will be put up for adoption. In situations like this, officials can use poster printing to create advertisements to encourage people to adopt a furry friend.
