Chino is helping to make safe disposal of hazardous waste easier for county residents by offering recurring dates when they can drop off these products.
The City has created a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) drop-off program to give residents a convenient and safe way to dispose of household products that contain chemicals. However, not all products will be accepted.
Those that will be accepted include:
• Tires, both off and on the rim
• Aerosol cans that are not empty
• Mercury gauges and thermostats
• Thermostats
• Fluorescent tubes and bulbs
• Supplies for hobbies and pool care
• Expired medications (no controlled substances accepted)
• Chemical cleaners
• Paint and related products including stains and thinners
• Fertilizers and pesticides
• Batteries, both household and automotive
• Gasoline and antifreeze
• Household generated oil filters and motor oil
• Electronic waste
However, there are a number of items that will not be accepted. These include:
• Asbestos
• Reactives
• Furniture
• Large appliances
• Yard waste
• Radioactive waste
• Medical waste
• Explosives
• Business waste
Limits on each visit are 125lb or 15 gallons of hazardous waste. Containers must not be larger than five gallons.
There are two dates in June for disposing of HHW. The first is June 12, and the second is June 26, and both will take place at 5050 Schaefer Avenue. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for events like this.
