Black rodeo comes to Bakersfield
Midwest Invitational Black Rodeo is bringing Black Rodeo USA to town this summer.
The Bakersfield Invitational Black Rodeo will take place in early July thanks to Kern County Black Chamber of Commerce, Rising Sun riding stables, Calloway 4-H youth group, BootBarn, and other groups. This will be the kick-off event for the West Coast Tour.
National and local African American rodeo competitors will be vying in calf roping, bull riding, steer wrestling, ladies barrel racing, steer undecorating, and relay races in a two-and-a-half-hour show. Other events will include junior breakaway roping and junior barrel racing.
Black Rodeo USA has a mission to celebrate African American culture and history by organizing an annual rodeo. It gives young people interactive experiences with the African American Western heritage through sportsmanship, agriculture, and equestrianism.
General admission is $15 for presale tickets or $20 at the gate, while VIP unassigned box seating is $25 in advance and VIP reserved seating is $30 at the gate. Children under three years old can get in when accompanied by a paying adult.
Rodeo enthusiasts occasionally like to have flyers to put up in their neighborhoods, schools, rodeo associations, and offices to get the word out. Shops offering print services can help here.
Bakersfield Invitational Black Rodeo will have one performance on Friday, July 8 from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Kern County Fair, 1142 South P Street. Gates will open at 6:00 pm.
