Mothers throughout Bakersfield have begun lacing up their running shoes in preparation for an event taking place in May. They will soon be participating in an annual marathon suitable for participants of all skill levels.
The Bakersfield Mother's Day Run is currently in its third year, and the 2026 event is expected to draw an even larger audience. There are actually three competitions attendees can choose – a standard 5K run, a shorter 2K walk, and a virtual run that can be recorded before being digitally submitted. Mothers are also encouraged to bring along children who are at least nine years old if they would also like to enjoy the day.
All guests of the Bakersfield Mother's Day Run will receive a finisher medallion, and a complimentary T-shirt. Children can also receive onsite gifts depending on the associated age group. In addition to these items, additional onsite amenities include refreshments and live music.

The 2026 Bakersfield Mother's Day Run is being held on Sunday, May 10. The race is taking place at The Park at River Walk located at 11298 Stockdale Highway. Guests are asked to arrive at 7:00 AM, and the race begins at 8:00 AM. Ticket prices begin at $44.40 per application, and these include all processing fees.
