Local chalk artists take to Bakersfield streets

Residents throughout Bakersfield are sharpening their sticks of chalk in anticipation of an event being held in October. This public festival has come to represent a mainstay of the local community, and a large turnout is predicted.

The Via Arté Chalk Festival is an annual celebration that has been held since 1999. This festival is being sponsored by the Bakersfield Museum of Art, and it is associated with a rather unique theme. Artists will be transforming slabs of asphalt into chalk masterpieces. Organizers claim that this event draws hundreds of participants each year.

This festival is intended to mirror the popularity of 13th-century Italian street paintings. It represents a way for the masses to become actively involved, and no prior experience is needed. All funds raised will then be used to support the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

Annual events known to draw loyal crowds are likely to employ tried-and-tested advertising techniques. Some possible examples include working with Logo Design services when creating one-off Flyers, asking community members to distribute Brochures, and overseeing web pages that provide basic contact details.

The Bakersfield Via Arté Chalk Festival is being held on Saturday, October 17th, and Sunday, October 18th from 9 AM to 8 PM. This event will take place outside The Marketplace located at 9000 Ming Avenue. Tickets are available from September 1st, and prices have not yet been released.
