Bakersfield recreation celebrates 70 years of service

The Bakersfield North of the River Recreation and Park District (NOR) has been providing faithful services to the local community for nearly seven decades. A celebration in October is meant to highlight the role that NOR continues to play in relation to Bakersfield culture.

NOR 70th Anniversary Festival will offer numerous attractions to attendees. While primarily focused on commemorating seventy years of unique memories, guests can enjoy additional amenities. These include:

- Live music performed by the group Mento Buru
- Bouncy houses for younger visitors
- Snacks supplied by local Bakersfield vendors
- Games and entertainment
- A one-of-a-kind evening light show created by drones

Note that different portions of the day are associated with unique on-off themes. The Fall Festival, the Sunset Social, and Movie Night are all examples.

Community-oriented events will often employ well-known methods such as flyer printing, banner ads, and television commercials to keep the public informed. These are also useful if itineraries happen to change.

NOR's 70th Anniversary Festival is being held at Polo Park; located at 11801 Noriega Road, Bakersfield 93312 on Saturday, October 11th. Festivities begin at 3 PM, and they conclude at 11 PM. There is no charge to attend this event, and the first 200 guests will receive a complimentary hot dog. No tickets are required although pre-booking will help anticipate numbers.
