The Paisley-born musician, who became internationally famous with songs like ‘Stuck in the Middle with You’ and ‘Baker Street’, died three years ago, but his songs remain regulars on radio stations.
‘Bring it all Home: The Exhibition’, which opened on March 7 and runs until mid-May, is at Paisley Museum, and is free to enter. Visitors will be able to see memorabilia from Rafferty’s lengthy career in music, including hand-written song lyrics, gold discs and guitars. His daughter Martha, who is helping to curate the exhibition, has loaned most of these, but some of the art on display is courtesy of John Byrne – who created several of Rafferty’s sleeve designs.
Martha told the local press:
“My father’s home town meant a huge deal to him and helped inspire a lot of his work, so it is fitting to be able to hold this event here in Paisley.”
Exhibitions like this often make use of brochure printers in Paisley, so attendees can find their way around the artefacts on display, while Renfrewshire Council has organised and promoted it in association with Scotland’s Year of the Homecoming 2014.
